Position Summary:
Reporting to the Environmental Services Manager or designate, the Environmental Service Worker is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation. The Environmental Service Worker performs tasks of sweeping, mopping, dusting and waste handling and removal to ensure areas are clean and safe. The Environmental Service Worker complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.
Qualifications:
Cleaning experience an asset
Fundamental knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHIMIS, the Sanitation Code and the legislation related to this work
Demonstrates mature, professional and responsible attitude
Ability to work within a collaborative team environment or with minimal supervision
Ability to read and understand job assignments
Must be able to lift 50 pounds maximum, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects
Excellent communication skills; Proficiency in French language is an asset
Education and/or Certification:
Grade 12 education – preferred
