Position Summary:
Reporting to the Manager of the Centre for Problem Gambling & Digital Dependency or designate,
the Gambling/Gaming Addictions Support Worker is responsible for providing safe, comprehensive direct
and indirect client care procedures in a 24-hour environment. This role participates in and promotes a
resident- and family-centred interdisciplinary team approach to service. The incumbent must demonstrate
the values of Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare and contribute positively to the mission and vision of the program
and organization. The Gambling/Gaming Addictions Support Worker complies with the Occupational Health and
Safety Standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.
Qualifications:
- Minimum one year related experience in addictions/problem gambling – preferred
- If recovering problem gambler, must have three years of continuous abstinence
- Good knowledge of phases, progression, and symptoms of gambling addiction
- Demonstrated ability to deal with addictions in a supportive, non-judgemental manner
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to maintain accurate and appropriate case notes
- Provide education verbally and through the use of videos, DVDs, and overheads for gamblers and family members
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary care team
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment
- General good health and a level of fitness appropriate for the demands of the position
- Excellent communication skills; proficiency in French is considered an asset

Education and/or Certification:
- Addictions Diploma from a university or community college of recognized standing – required
- Grade XII or equivalent – required
- Certification in CPR – preferred
