Position Summary:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Registered Nurse utilizes a client-centered, recovery-oriented, mental health service delivery model. Using the principles of client-centered care within the context of an interdisciplinary team approach, the Registered Nurse will provide service to clients with chronic mental illness. The Registered Nurse collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, program psychiatrist, physicians, educational resources and other health care professionals. The Registered Nurse complies with the Occupational Health and Safety standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.
Qualifications:
Minimum 2 years of experience in the field of psychiatric/mental health nursing –required
Community Mental Health experience - preferred
Ability to function independently in the community – required
Valid Ontario Driver’s License, means of transportation and ability to ravel on a daily basis for outreach services – required
Must adhere to and provide satisfactory auto insurance documents to the Hospital in accordance with the Vehicle Use for the Provision of Care or Transportation of HDGH Client/Patients Policy – required
Computer knowledge of Microsoft Office applications – preferred
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team approach and adhere to accepted standards of personal conduct
Thorough knowledge of nursing principles, procedures and practice in accordance with the standards of Nursing Practice of the College of Nurses and regulations of the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA)
Excellent communication skills; Proficiency in French language is an asset
Education and/or Certification:
Current Certificate of Registration issued through the College of Nurses of Ontario - required
Bachelor of Science in Nursing - Required
Completion of Psychiatric Specialist Certification (RNA) – preferred
