Position Summary:
The Problem Gambling Counsellor is responsible for the provision of services to persons with gambling problems including client intake, assessment, individual counselling, education and group facilitation. There is a required participation in departmental, program and organizational-wide professional activities supportive of direct patient services and corporation objectives. The Problem Gambling Counsellor is responsible for delivery of care consistent with the vision and values of the organization. The incumbent must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety standards for the hospital and is proactive in promoting a safe work environment.
Qualifications:
Commitment to departmental and professional standards and accountability
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
French Language proficiency is an asset
Ability to work flexible shifts including weekend and evening shifts
Valid Ontario Driver’s License, means of transportation and ability to travel on a daily basis for outreach services - Required
Education and/or Certification:
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Mental Health/Addictions focus - Required
Canadian Problem Gambling Counsellor Certification (or eligibility to obtain certification within twelve (12) months) – Required
Relevant internship/placement educational experience – Preferred
1-2 years experience in gambling addiction services - Preferred
